When I found my house in my dream neighborhood, it felt like I had won the lottery. Little did I know that this place would bring not only a beautiful home but also the coolest, nicest, and most amazing people into my life. One person who stands out in particular is my friend Lhonette, the co-owner of Raupo Studio.
From the moment Lhonette greeted me while moving boxes across the street, I considered her a friend. Her husband and kids are equally remarkable, and every time my nieces and nephews come to visit, they eagerly look forward to playing with Lhonette's children. Despite the language barrier, they spend hours laughing, running, and creating unforgettable memories together.
Recently, Lhonette asked me to do some portraits for her daughter Emma's 8th birthday. While I usually focus on capturing real moments and often share those images, I also understand the importance of portraits. However, not just any portrait will do. Emma is not only one of the most beautiful kids I know but also powerful, independent, kind, and strong.
When photographing real life, we have the opportunity to capture portraits that tell a story and reveal someone's true essence. While I have many images of Emma playing soccer and simply being a kid, there was one specific photograph that stood out to me. It captured a glimpse of an amazing future. I know that Emma is destined for great things, and I am beyond thrilled to be able to create lasting memories through pictures for her to cherish in the years to come.
I think it’s important to remember to take pictures with a purpose, with a story to tell. Your kids will truly appreciate this in the years to come. The memories we capture today will serve as a window into their past and a reminder of who they were and who they have become. As a family photographer, I strive to create not only beautiful images but also meaningful ones that capture the essence of each individual and their unique journey.
