THAT APPLE MEMORY SLIDE THAT MADE ME CRY AT PUBLIX.…
"Two kombuchas in hand, and tears streaming down my face."
There I was, standing at the self-checkout at the grocery store, when suddenly, my phone makes this noise. Not a text, not an email—something different. And there it was: the memory video. By the end of 2021, my youngest sister visited with my niece for Christmas. I hadn’t seen them in almost two years. Naturally, I take more pictures of my nieces and nephews than a first-time parent seeing their newborn for the first time. I think it’s a mix of my passion for photography and the fact that I thought I’d have kids, but didn’t. So, in other words… I’ve become the best aunt ever (yes, so humble, I know).
Since then, I’ve seen my family many times, and every single visit is SO special. But there’s always that gap. Covid. Not only did I miss photographing them—I missed being with them.
Yes, this is me trying to sell you a photography session, but hear me out: even if you don’t hire me, think about this—don’t let life create these gaps. The ones where we’re too busy, too stressed, too fat or too worried. Life changes, and so do we. And every single moment is worth documenting. To see how we’ve grown, how we’ve changed, how we’ve lived.
Hire me, don’t hire me. Use your iPhone, ask a family member, or even hire another photographer. Just, please—take the picture.
