Let your kid play in the dirt

Embracing the Heart of Creation: The Journey Holds More Magic than the Final Result

There's been so much buzz about A.I. lately, and it's got me thinking. Everything in life seems to have two sides, a good one and a not-so-good one. But it's up to us, the human touch, to steer the ship. I'm genuinely excited about the positives, especially in the field of medicine and the general quality of life improvements we will all enjoy.

Now, I won't deny that the thought of jobs being snatched away by A.I. can send a shiver down your spine. I've personally felt that fear when I lost a couple of gigs to these digital marvels. But guess what? That setback forced me to shake things up, ignite my creative fires, and now I'm on the brink of launching some exciting new projects.

But here's the part that tugs at my heartstrings: the notion that folks might stop getting their hands dirty, stop painting, crafting, or capturing life through the lens. The process, is so much more than the outcome. It's that beautiful journey of discovery, the struggle, the late nights, and the mess of materials strewn around until your creation finally makes sense. It's not just about the craft; it's about you. I still feel it, that rush, that challenge, and it's something I wonder if the next generation will truly get to experience.

Will they miss out on the feel of clay between their fingers, the joy of mixing colors on a canvas, or the thrill of working till dawn, surrounded by the tools of their trade? The more I age, the hungrier I am for knowledge, yet I'm humbled by the realization that I don't have all the answers. So here is my unsolicited advice: let your kids dive into art, let them play in the dirt, let them get gloriously messy. Show them the wonders of creativity, whether it's tinkering with a piano, harmonica, guitar, or whatever tickles their fancy. Sure, A.I. might one day churn out songs or art at the snap of a finger, but the process, it's worth a thousand masterpieces. It shapes them, teaches them, and gives them something no digital wizardry can replicate.
